As you may be aware, Joseph Nye recently accused political scientists of becoming less relevant to today’s governments as they tend to focus on theory rather than policy issues. This trend could be short-changing today’s students and sidelining the field in favor of economists and lawyers.
With our non-partisan online think tank Atlantic-Community.org we aim to empower the next generation of leaders by encouraging policy-oriented thinking. We offer your students an interdisciplinary space outside of the classroom, where they can debate global issues and develop practical policy recommendations alongside academics and professionals by publishing their op-eds, research papers, and comments on the website. In addition we host a special student essay competition. We pool the collective intelligence of our members for the best policy recommendations and summarize the results of our online discussions in succinct memos that are sent directly to policymakers in 27 countries.
